CELEBRATION OF ‘TEEJ’

CELEBRATION OF ‘TEEJ’

ShravanMahina, or Sawan Month, is one of the holiest Hindu months and is dedicated to Lord Shiva in North India. Shravan month is filled with auspicious days and numerous rituals. The Shravan Month 2011 in traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India begins on July 16 and ends on August 13.
Teej is one of the festivals celebrated during this month. It brings with it the festivity and glory in the air. In earlier times, it was the means for the women folk to interact and have a social life. Teej denotes the devotion that Goddess Parvati had for her husband Lord Shiva. Married women wear laheria dresses, apply intricate designs of henna on theirpalms, adorn themselves with colourful bangles and swing on Teej singing merrily.
In order to apprise the students with our rich cultural heritage, we at ChiranjivBharati School PalamVihar celebrated Teej. Inter house henna competition was held in which our students exhibited theircreative andaesthetic skills. Inter house kite flying competition was also held to mark the occasion. With great zeal and enthusiasm our students participated in kite flying competition. Colourful kites dotted the sky bearing the message of love, peace and universal brotherhood. Our Principal, Mrs SangeetaSaxena appreciated the students for their efforts.
