Quiz on Dairy Industry-An overview

A quiz on the data collected by children on Dairy techniques, breeds, cattle raring , usage of animal waste and farming techniques in India, Holland and Switzerland was conducted in the premises of CBS, Palam Vihar in the month of November2011.

ISA ACITVITY- DAIRY FARMING


ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED


Chiranjiv Bharati School carried out an ISA activity – “An Overview of dairy Industry in India and other Countries”
Under this activity the various projects undertaken were- 
1.     Interview of a dairy owner and a scientist or teacher to get the scenario of dairy farming and awareness    about it. For this students visited a neighboring dairy farm and collected information based on the questionnaire presented to the dairy owner. A similar questionnaire was presented to teachers or dairy scientists to get guidance for the research work to be carried out by students. 
   2.   Students researched the topic and did a comparative analysis of the dairy industry and presented their work in the form of collages and bulletin boards. 
3.    Students of class x made projects on the “use of animal waste “. They came up with some common and some innovative methods to use dairy waste in different spheres of day to day life. 
4.  Students participated enthusiastically in a quiz conducted as Intra- class activity. They collected questions and posed them to their class mates not only to gauge their previous knowledge but also to stimulate their interest in dairy of other countries.

WORLD CONSERVATION DAY CELEBRATED AT CBS,PV



The day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in school. Special projects were given to the students to create awareness .Students of different classes have performed the following activities under the able guidance of Mrs. Manisha Dawar & Mrs. Indira Kataria :

1. Class  Students of Class X  A prepared a bulletin board on conserving Bio- diversity .
Title of Bulletin Board : “ Where are we heading”

2. Students of Class X  A & X C collected the newspaper clippings, on how media is creating awareness to conserve flora & fauna.

Title of project : “Explore the newspaper”

3. Students of Class VIII prepared charts on renewable resources .

4. . Students of Class VII  prepared charts on comparative study of conventional & non conventional sources of energy.

5. Geography students of Class XII have prepared a model to conserve forest.

6. Students of Class VII A & VII B created their own newspaper by using the recycled paper made in the school. An inter class quiz was also conducted on the concerned issue.

7. The students of CBS contributed cactus , ornamental and floweringplants to show the diversification in flora.

Workshop on Madhubani Art

25th November, Friday
 
 
NIE conducted a workshop on Madhubani Art for classes 6th A,B,C,D &E by the facilitator Mr. Sushil Kumar .He taught the students how one can perform Madhubani Art.(Bihar-Madhubani District) He told the students to use art sheets and the bright sketch pens. The students made beautiful paintings of God,Godesses and beautiful Rangolis. Some of them also made birds like peacocks and parrots.It was a wonderful and learning experience for the students

DEBATE COMPETITION

Debate conducted on the forms of government  
 
A debate was held on Parliamentary form of government vs. Presidential form of government on 25th November’ 2011 in the Social Science Lab of CBSPV by Class IX B students. Two speakers spoke for the Parliamentary form of government and the other two on the Presidential form of government. Shikha was adjudged as the best speaker. The criteria of judgment was  content, confidence and overall presentation.

Sports Day at CBS



To inculcate the true values and importance of sportsmanship among the students, Chiranjiv Bharati School, PV hosted Sports Day on 19-11-11. The function was inaugurated by the Principal, Mrs Sangeeta Saxena and the Headmistress, Mrs Shoma lahiri with the lightening of the lamp and the release of the colourful balloons in the presence of Head Boy and Head girl of the school (Primary wing) with all the four houses. The music choir of the school also rendered a highly inspirational song ‘ Hum Bachhe Hai Azad watan ke’. The proceedings began with the march past led by the House Prefects and the other contingents. The solemn programme of lightening the sports torch was carried by the champion swimmer Vishal Grewal followed by the oath ceremony led by the Head Boy and Head Girl. The various track and field events were arranged for the students of classes III, IV & V. Relay race, 50 m flat race, lemon & spoon, three legged race, needle & thread race, frog race, Getting ready for school race were the major attractions of the day. The students participated with enthusiasm showcasing their zeal and determination to be the champions. The programme ended with the Prize- distribution and vote of thanks by the headmistress. Mrs Shoma Lahiri appreciated the team spirit, sportsmanship and efforts of the coaches and the teachers who made a grand success.

In order to build up proficiency in English language, the Spell-Vocab Challenger test was conducted in school on 17th November 2011 for classes VI-XI. The students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Anti Corruption Drive

Being Vigilant and Fighting Corruption
Students of Class X B showcased a play on Anti Corruption. Through this play they spread the message to curb the social evil by the various appropriate ways and means. Students were instructed to form an anti corruption forum to eradicate this evil.
A bulletin board was also put up with the same theme to bring awareness to curb corruption and make India a corruption free nation.
A small skit with a theme on anti-corruption was showcased in the school hall by the students of class X-B to celeberate the vigilance awareness week. Our Principal Mrs.Sangeeta Saxena along with Headmistress Mrs.Raka Kaul & Social Studies HOD Mrs.Shalini Jerath chaired the occasion. Principal mam applauded the show & encouraged the students to take more initiatives.

Book Week Begins……….

Book Week began with the rustle of paper, colour and print at C.B.S, Palam Vihar as a tribute to our national leaders Maulana Azad and Pandit Nehru whose birthdays were recently celebrated. Many prominent publishers including NBT (National Book Trust) which was founded by Nehruji himself put up their exhibition- cum -sale .Other publishers including “The Book Nest’ and Brilliant Educational Aids also added dimension to this event. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal of CBS/PV, Mrs.Sangeeta Saxena. To make the event have its desired impact, activities related to books e.g. book mark making, character role - plays etc are also on the cards as announced by Head Mistress Mrs.Shoma Lahiri. The exhibition will remain open for all students and parents from 14th November to 20th November, 2011.

Closing ceremony of V Millennium Cup Inter School Tournament

CBSPV Steals the Show
The Millennium Cup Sports Extravaganza culminated on 11th Nov. 2011. The closing ceremony was presided over by Shri Sukhbir Kataria, Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs. The honourable minister was also the Chief Guest for the occasion.
CBSPV, the host school performed very well in the championship. They emerged the winner in cricket beating Shikshantar. The Volleyball final was also won by CBSPV and they beat St. PBN in a well contested match. CBSPV also emerged winner in the march past beating all other contingents convincingly but the trophy was handed over to Blue Bells School, CBSPV being the host school. DPS Sec 45 emerged the champion in football and basketball for girls. DPS Maruti Kunj emerged winner in the basket ball for boys.
The presentation ceremony, the much awaited moment was graced by the presence of the honourable minister, Sh. Sukhbir Kataria and the school principal, Mrs. Sangeeta Saxena. They felicitated the winners and also gave away the participation certificates. The chief guest in his special speech congratulated all the participants and had a special word of appreciation for the winners. He was also very elated with the host school for having organized the event in such a successful manner.

CBSPV HOSTED THE MILLINNIUM CUP SPORTS TOURNAMENT

The Millennium Cup Tournament 2011, the prestigious interschool sports meet commenced on 8th November 2011. Mrs. Mahrukh Singh, Director of Schools was the esteemed chief guest and Mr. Sanjay Phogaat, the captain of the Indian Volleyball team and the Arjuna awardee was the guest of honour.
The opening ceremony started with the inaugural lamp lighting ceremony and the chief guest, the guest of honour, the school principal Mrs. Sangeeta Saxena and Mr. Mukesh Dagar did the honours. Then, there was a warm welcome accorded to our distinguished dignitaries. The welcome song by the school choir paved the way for the march past after which the rules and regulation to be followed during the tournament were clearly delineated. This was followed by the torch relay. The torch was duly handed to our respected chief guest who passed the same to be put in cauldron. Then there was the oath taking ceremony and the meet was declared open by our chief guest Mrs. Maharukh Singh. She also addressed the medley of school team and conveyed her best wishes. She also outlined the mantra for success –dedication, discipline, diligence and the dietary dos and don’ts.

PRAYATANA IN PERSPECTIVE
The Commerce Wing of Chiranjiv Bharati School organized a meet on 3rdNovember 2011 to showcase the endeavors of Prayatana, the CBS students Co-operative. Mrs. Meera Balachandra of EQFI was the chief guest and Dr.Dinesh Mishra, the chief Executive of National Co-operative Union was the guest of honour. A host of eminent personalities including Mr. Bhim Singh Yadav social activist also graced the occasion with their benign presence.
 The Commerce students showcased the various initiatives of Prayatana through a PowerPoint presentation. They explained the working of the Co-operative store that provides stationary goods at reasonable rates. Members of Prayatana had trained the community children for preparing decorative diyas and greeting cards that were sold at the co-operative store. The students also explained the working of the cooperative library as an initiative of Praytana. The aim of setting up the library was also delineated to inculcate the habit of reading among community children and to satisfy their quest for knowledge.
The commerce students also explained social initiative undertaken by Praytana like poster making and paragraph writing competition. This venture by the commerce wing received praise and appreciation from everyone present there. Principal ma’am, Mrs. Sangeeta Saxena praised the entrepreneurship skills of the commerce students and appreciated them for learning and understanding the anatomy of the economic model and the synergic effect of collaboration.

On 31st October, 2011 Rabindranath Tagore’s dance- drama ‘Shyama’ and ‘Chandalika was staged in school by the students of class -  XI under the guidance of Mrs Shashi Mishra, the Hindi teacher and Mrs Rajni the dance teacher.

In ‘Chandalika’ Prokrithi an untouchable girl whois ill-treated by other villagers because of her low caste, discovers a new meaning of her life when a Buddhist monk asks her for water and tells her that she is also a human being created by God. 

Shyama, a court dancer, is in love with a foreign merchant who is imprisoned and faces execution on false charges. Shyama’s immense love for the merchant binds her to accept an admirers offer to take the merchant’s place. 

Socio – political malpractices prevalent in the society was an eye opener for the students. They highly appreciated the dance and the costumes worn by the participants. Our Principal Mrs.SangeetaSaxena applauded the students for their sincere efforts.

A VIRTUAL WORLD TOUR TO NEHRU WORLD SCHOOL



Seven students and two teachers from Chiranjiv Bharati School, Palam Vihar went on a virtual world tour to Nehru World School, Ghaziabad on Thursday, 20th October, 2011. It was an amazing experience.

 Each class from nursery to twelfth was assigned a particular country. All the travellers were given a passport which was verified and stamped. A tourist guide was provided to each group. The escorts took immense care of the comforts of each guest. The passports were stamped before embarking on the site seeing of each country. Topography, cuisine, world heritage sites, national flag, emblem, the indigenous people, their attire, culture etc. was very comprehensively portrayed. They even had an interactive corner where students could play the most popular game of that particular country. A small memento of each country made by the students was also gifted as a token of remembrance.

The virtual tour to Singapore, Spain, U K, U S A, France, Morocco, China and several other countries was indeed an enriching experience for both, the staff and the students. We sincerely thank our Principal Mrs Sangeeta Saxena for having sent us to this exhibition.

OTHELLO

OTHELLO
 
The students of X D very enthusiastically read, researched and wrote the script for the play Othello by Shakespeare.
It was indeed an excellent strategy to give them a free hand in choosing the role they wanted to play. After rehearsing for a week on their own they called me for refinement. It was an amazing experience for me. Each one of them performed so well that their creativity moved me to the core.
Today they performed in front of a large audience. Headmistress Senior Wing Mrs. Raka Kaul, Headmistress Middle Wing Mrs. Shailini Jerath, H O D English Mrs. Jyoti Sannoo, other subject teachers and the students highly appreciated their performance.

Cleanest Day Drive


Cleanest Day Drive


As a second initiative under the project, The Grand Banyan, We at Chiranjiv Bharati School, Palam Vihar Chose to clean the area in front of the residential colony of H Block, Palam Vihar, Gurgaon. This is the main road which passes, in front of Goddess Durga temple. The road passes through a railway crossing and goes to New Palam Vihar. Our school bus also passes through this area.
It is our fervent belief that goddess Durga leaves her heavenly abode to visit her folks at home. So, she alights for a ten day annual visit to enjoy herself amidst her devotees. The Hindus all across, pray with utmost devotion singing songs and chanting hymns in praise of Goddess Durga. In order to make her stay on planet Earth a memorable one, they initiate cleanliness drive. The beautification lends a glorious charm to our surroundings and also adds a special dimension to her stay in her paternal abode.
This is perhaps the most suitable time to initiate this cleanliness drive. Some of the students and members of staff very enthusiastically participated and helped in beautifying this area.

The Merchant Of Venice


The students of VIII-A staged a play ‘The Merchant Of Venice ‘ by William Shakespeare.
The main aim of staging the play was:
1.       To study the play and various characters in detail.
2.       To know the social and political conditions prevalent.
3.       To get acquainted with different styles, nuances & dramatic quality of      William Shakespeare’s play.
The play was staged with a little twist as all the student wanted to be a part of the play.
So it was created like a movie. Various characters were introduced like camera men, director, etc.Children participated enthusiastically and handcrafted the witness boxes and made various props.Children also painted beautiful pictures of court scene which adorned the classroom walls.

Literacy day celebrated at CBSPV


The Hindi department of the school celebrated World Literacy Day .The Dell Lab was the site selected for the purpose and it was indeed a very fruitful event. The student of CBSPV dedicated their efforts to teach the members of the ‘Helping Fraternity’. The workers appreciated the efforts of the children as they tried to learn and grasp new ideas. School Principal, Mrs Sangeeta Saxena appreciated the efforts of the Hindi Department in organizing such a meaning full event to commemorate the day.

She also congratulated the students for their commendable job. The senior headmistress, Mrs. Raka Kaul and the middle wing headmistress, Mrs. Shalini Jerath graced the occasion with their presence. Indeed, World Literacy Day acquired a new meaning under the table guidance of Mrs. Divya Rao, head of Hindi department.
