Disaster Management Session
On 13th July 2011, CBSPV welcomed Mr. S.K. Sharma, fire fighter who enlightened the students about the ways to tackle manmade disasters as well as natural calamities. The students were taught ways to mitigate the impact after the disaster.
He laid special emphasis on the various methods of fire fighting. The children were made to understand techniques to douse the fire on combustible materials by adding water, water solutions or the coating effect of certain dry chemicals. He stressed upon the fact that a small fire if treated timely can prevent a disaster. He provided a thorough demonstration about how fire extinguishers can be used effectively.
Mr. Sharma demonstrated various techniques to provide comfort to victims. He made children aware about how to pick up boys and handmade stretchers could come in handy, stretchers could be devised using dupattas and belts, he said.
He also spoke about how evacuation routes could be chalked out during fires, earthquakes and road accidents. It was a very informative session and the children were empowered with techniques to learn about ways and methods to combat disasters.
It was attended by Principal Mrs. Sangeeta Saxena and all staff members.
